Punning

Whats your pun style?

Do you pun for the heck of it? Or are you a situational punner?

Do you pun just to introduce some humor in a conversation? Or do you pun unknowingly during conversations?

When you pun, how do you deliver your line? Does it rest heavily on the the meaning relevant to the conversation? Or does it tip it merciless on to the other meaning?

Does delivery at all matter or affect the pun, its comic effect, or acerbic sarcasm or whatever reason you punned?

Can you at all take a pun out of the situational relevance? How effective are stand-alone puns?

I’d like to know.

Gawd! this sounds terribly like a facebook quiz!

Guess, I need to introduce a ‘none of these’ option!

No idea, I’m no pundit! Maybe you should add that too as an option. πŸ™‚ πŸ˜›

I am a situational punner! Stand alone puns IMO are effective depending on the manner in which they’re delivered.

it’s normally a considerable overlap, isn’t it? it doesn’t seem to be an exclusive ‘or’ option.
    >>Do you pun just to introduce some humor in a conversation? Or do you pun unknowingly during conversations?
the former is only in desperate times. unknowingly happens only occasionally. it’s mostly intentional, and to keep up the generally humorous tone of conversation… puns normally flow only when other punsters are around.
    >>When you pun, how do you deliver your line?
dry/matter-of-fact is the way i like. i don’t always do it that way (or maybe i do, i haven’t noticed), but that’s the sort that has the most effect on me.
    >>Does delivery at all matter or affect the pun
if a pun is not that great by itself, then delivery and timing begin to matter. because you can’t return to the pun and laugh about it and improv on it then and there.
    >>How effective are stand-alone puns?
if a pun can stand by itself, it must be effective, shouldn’t it?

  4. I am a serial Punster, often with double or triple puns (3 and 4 meanings respectively) and more often pun just for heckling the party around with no relevance to the conversation! Of course most people dont even get the pun in the first place and wonder why I am laughing!

Same here! But shouldn’t stand-alone puns be independent of delivery? Itll have to rely heavily on the diction!

    @Wanderlust
    First line:
Let me rephrase it: When you pun, do you carry your conversation with focus on the pun or do situations drive your puns? / you go with the flow!
    Second:
“puns normally flow only when other punsters are around.” how true!
    Fourth and Fifth:
Puns in written/typed form should be more robust, nein?

Double/Triple? Awesome! Come aboard! We are all a little bored!
